US 1 in Virginia

US 1 crossing the Potomac River into Virginia.

Heavy traffic on US 1 on the south side of Fredericksburg.

US 1 is a four-lane highway for the most part between Washington and Richmond.

US 1 is a tree-lined boulevard through this part of Richmond. On my first trip on US 1 I spent the night in Richmond.

As US 1 heads southwest from Petersburg it becomes a two-lane road with an occasional passing lane.

US 1 is multiplexed with US 58 in South Hill.
