The New Jersey state line welcome sign on the George Washington Bridge. The border between New York and New Jersey is in the middle of the Hudson River. Although there is no signage on the bridge, both US 1 and US 9 cross the bridge (with I-95) and US 46 begins here at the state line. The picture was taken many years ago on the northern walkway on the bridge. This walkway is almost never open to the public anymore (only the south walkway is open) and even when it is open, the Port Authority of NY & NJ now prohibits photography of/on the bridge.

Deep below the bridge we see the suspension cables anchored to the bedrock.

US 1 is multiplexed with US 9 as it passes through Ridgefield.
US 1 is a major highway in much of New Jersey.
