Although at one time US 61 began at the Canadian border on the north shore of Lake Superior, it now begins just north of St. Paul. The route generally follows the Mississippi River as it heads south ending in New Orleans.

We traveled US 61 from end to end in July 2022, taking these photographs along the way.
