US 42 begins in Cleveland and heads southwest through Ohio to Cincinnati. After crossing the Ohio River into Kentucky, it generally follows the river southwest to Louisville where it ends. Most of the route is still only two lanes, meandering through the towns along the way.

We traveled US 42 from end to end in April 2010, taking these photographs along the way.
