US 41 begins in far northern Michigan on a peninsula jutting far into Lake Superior. It meanders through the Upper Peninsula of Michigan, eventually meeting Lake Michigan and heading south to Wisconsin. After a trip around Lake Winnebago, US 41 enters Milwaukee and later runs along the lake shore in Chicago. US 41 continues south through western Indiana into Kentucky and eventually Tennessee, where it takes a more southeasterly direction and passes through Nashville and Chattanooga. It runs through central Georgia passing through Atlanta, and then central Florida to Tampa. From Tampa it follows the Gulf Coast to Naples, then heads east across the Everglades to end in Miami.
We traveled US 41 from end to end in August 2009, taking these photographs along the way.
