US 27 now begins in Fort Wayne, Indiana and heads south along the Indiana - Ohio border, eventually crossing into Ohio for a short while and passing through Cincinnati. US 27 crosses the Ohio River into Kentucky, continuing south and passing through Lexington on it way to Tennessee, where it passes through Chattanooga just before entering Georgia. The route follows the Alabama border south through Georgia, passing through Columbus on its way to Tallahassee, Florida. From the Florida state capital, US 27 heads southeast, first following the Gulf coast, then heading further inland, passing a bit west of Orlando, rounding the southwest side of Lake Okeechobee, and eventually ending in Miami.

We drove US 27 from end to end and took these photographs in the late summer of 2002.
