We took a ride on the Market-Frankford Line on 10 March 2012. We began our journey at the Frankford Transportation Center, making the long drive from the PA Turnpike down US 1 to the station. We originally planned to park in the garage, but finding some spots open on the street decided to go for the free street parking instead. We rode the line to the 69th Street Terminal where we transferred to the Norristown High Speed Line. After a trip to Norristown we switched back to the Market-Frankford Line. For the trip back to the Frankford Transportation Center we sat at the rear-facing railfan window. From this vantage I could see that the third rail power was received by an under-running shoe, which surprised me since I thought aside from Metro-North almost everywhere else used an over-running shoe. For part of the trip back some young children were sitting behind us. Seeing me photographing much of the line, one of them asked why I was taking pictures, and was taken aback when I turned to answer. Soon we were back at the Frankford Transportation Center though and heading for home.
