Metro-North Hudson Line Trip Report

We took a few rides on Metro-North’s Hudson Line. Our first was on 27 April 2008 when we rode from Poughkeepsie to Cortlandt. On 26 May 2008 we continued south starting at Croton-Harmon and riding a local train to Grand Central Terminal. On 4 October 2009 we took another local train to Grand Central, starting at Ossining this time but stopping at the new Yankees – East 153rd Street station for the first time. We’ve also taken other various trips from Poughkeepsie to Grand Central and on a few occasions Hastings-on-Hudson.

Our one way ride from Poughkeepsie to Cortlandt was the very first of our journeys. We sat near the front of the front car and were able to see out of the front window some of the time. Some of the route between Manitou and Peekskill was especially interesting when seen out the head end. Our train stopped at both Breakneck Ridge and Manitou although at Breakneck Ridge we overshot the station and had to back up.

Our ride from Croton-Harmon to Grand Central Terminal was also a one way trip. After arriving in New York and looking around a bit, we took a Harlem Line train back up to Bedford Hills.

Our trip to visit the newly opened Yankees station was a round trip journey, but was mostly a way of getting in to New York to ride the LIRR Port Washington Branch on a train that stopped at the seasonal Mets – Willets Point station.
