We rode the Metrolink Antelope Valley Line on 27 June 2013 as part of our cross-country trip on Amtrak’s Texas Eagle and Southwest Chief. On our last morning in Los Angeles, we checked out of our hotel and headed over to LA Union Station to review our options for a train ride before our return trip on the Southwest Chief that night. We left our bags at the station, and reviewed the upcoming departures. While we would have preferred to ride a line end to end, we also wanted to be back in Hollywood by mid-afternoon to meet some friends. We decided to take the next Antelope Valley Line train, even though it only went as far as Santa Clarita, rather than wait for a later train. We boarded and easily found seats, and settled in for our journey. It was an enjoyable ride through the mountains, including a ride through a very long tunnel. In Santa Clarita we walked around the station for a few minutes, then boarded again and began our trip back to Los Angeles.
