Amtrak Acela Express and Northeast Regional Trip Report

We haven’t actually taken a ride on the Acela Express and our only Northeast Regional ride so far was on the Springfield shuttle. All stations on the Northeast corridor were visited during trips on the Shore Line East, Metro-North, New Jersey Transit, SEPTA, and MARC. Most of the stations between Springfield and New Haven were visited as part of our trip on the Vermonter.

We took a short ride on the Springfield shuttle from Windsor to Hartford on 27 October 2012. After arriving in Hartford we took a city bus back up to Windsor.

Our next trip on a Northeast Regional train was 15 September 2013, riding from Boston South Station to Stamford. Because this train skipped Westerly and Mystic, we returned on 21 October 2013 to ride from Westerly to Mystic, and back to Westerly.
