Looking back toward Poughkeepsie on the old railroad bridge. The tracks were later removed and the bridge was converted to a pedestrian walkway.
The steel plate is marked 1944.
Looking straight down at one of the piers.
The pipe on the far side of the railing was used for firefighting, but unfortunately leaked when the bridge caught fire in 1974.
Looking down at the river again we see one of the walkways used for hanging navigation lanterns each night. Part of this can still be seen from the current Walkway Over the Hudson.
The Highland side of the bridge with the rails still in place.
